Excitement, engagement and fun when you participate in our educational tours and programmes at the Otago Settlers Museum.
The Ministry of Education funds the Otago Settlers Museum education service for Learning Experiences Outside the Classroom. The education facility offers a wide variety of interactive curriculum-based specialist programmes that are challenging, enriching and stimulating for visiting students on school trips.
The Otago Settlers Museum education staff have prepared programmes designed to complement the national curricula from primary through to secondary level. Some programmes are run in conjunction with the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
Visits are personally tailored to meet individual school requirements in timetabling arrangements, class levels and curriculum needs.
Visit options are linked using the Museum's displays of temporary exhibitions in conjunction with the Education Suite for activities, workshops and presentations.
Class Numbers. Each programme is limited to one class/group at a time to provide the best possible 'museum experience'. However, options are available if you wish to bring more than one class/group at a time.
Resources are available for some programmes to support and enhance classroom units. Resource kits are free and can be borrowed for up to three weeks.
Bookings are essential for all visiting school groups.
